Premier League in Europe

Champions League

The final week of Champions League group play is largely non-consequential for all English teams but Chelsea. Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have already clinched their groups before their final group match. Chelsea, facing Zenit on Wednesday, has already clinched advancement to the next round but could still cede the top spot they currently hold to Juventus depending on this week’s results. Manchester City’s group opponent is RB Leipzig. The German squad just sacked American manager Jesse Marsch in advance of a match which could still see them qualify for entry to the Europa League competition with a successful outcome. Liverpool opponent AC Milan could still qualify for the Round of Sixteen with a win over the Reds and a draw between Porto and Atletico Madrid. Manchester United has nothing at stake but for pride in their match as they try to avenge an earlier loss in the group stage to Young Boys.

Europa and Conference League

Leicester currently leads its Europa League group but could fall out of the top two qualifying spots with an unsuccessful result against an injury ravaged Napoli team. The two clubs drew when facing each other in their first group match. West Ham, meanwhile, has already clinched the top spot in its group heading into the Hammers final match in group play versus Dinamo Zagreb. Europa Conference League play will see Tottenham Hotspur host group leader Rennes. Spurs cannot finish first and are currently level on points for the second qualifying spot in the group with Vitesse. Vitesse faces NS Mura who humiliated Spurs in the last set of group stage matches.
